Futurama is coming back!

You read that correctly, the animated series from the creator of the Simpsons was canceled over 6 years ago by the devil, known as FOX. Now, like Family Guy, the series has been saved by DVD sales and Adult Swim ratings of the show. As a result, Comedy Central has ordered 26 episodes of the show. Good times.

Futurama is my favorite animated show. The show was consistently funny, and generally had some good social and political commentary. The story was centered in the year 3000, and it follows a lazy slacker pizza delivery guy from back in the 1990's who gets frozen and thaws out in the future. After awaking, he seeks out his relatives, an old professor who runs a deliver company called Planet Express. The company consists of a one-eyed mutant female, who kicks all kinds of butt, named Leelah, a Jamaican bookkeeper named Hermees, a robot with a drinking and steeling problem named Bender, a dumb doctor that is a crab, named Zoidberg and a rich Asian human woman named Amy. Together, they get into all kinds of shenanigans.

So, I'm very happy it will be back. It's amazing how DVD sales have saved several TV shows, and is now starting to bring shows back from the dead. Just think of all the possibilities these new found powers could bring....
