Thats right, Harry Potter just smashed the midnight record for most bones, at $22.2 mill. But, is anyone really surprised? I mean, we were all looking for a good summer blockbuster movie, and since Transformers was panned by critics, along with Wolverine and Terminator, we have been wanting something ever since Star Trek. It looks like we finally have it, so expect Harry Potter to blow away The Dark Knights first week sales.
One thing, though, stop the Oscar talk. Look, I loved this movie, and the chemistry and acting were spot on, but don't kid yourself and think you'll see Daniel Radcliff and Emma Watson leading the Academy charge for best actors. Whether they deserve it or not, they won't be picked, so don't set yourself up for failure.
Great to see a good movie raking in the dough, and I think this is the first report of many that Harry Potter got stupid amounts of money.
