Johnny Depp and Mickey are super-tight now. That's right, Jack Sparrow is back, he announced today that he is definitely signed on for one more Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but the big announcement is he will be playing Tonto in a new Lone Ranger movie. This is just days after announcing he would be the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Clearly, it's going to be a busy year for Depp, with 3 big blockbusters to start filming one, after another.
This is from a guy that said he was pretty sure he didn't have the star power to be in a big Blockbuster movie, (which I thought was modesty run a muck) and now look at him, I mean Pirates of the Caribbean was one of the biggest grossing movies of all time, and the two sequels made tons of money, it's about time someone else signs him up besides Tim Burton.
The Lone Ranger? It could definitely be one of the few remakes that makes sense, but the problem is, how long has it been since people knew who the Lone Ranger was, 40 years? 50? I could be wrong, I also thought a movie based off a theme park ride sounded like a bad idea, and look where that got me, so I guess we'll see. One thing is for certain, however, in all 3 movies, we will get a different Johnny Depp, and that, alone will be worth the price of admission.
