I want to be a writer when I grow up. This blog is my journey. I will become a better writer, better husband, better Dad and a better movie geek.

Captain Quint is dead?!? Nooooo!
Frank Mundus, the guy that inspired Peter Benchley's character Captain Quint in the movie Jaws has died, he was 82. Wow, seriously, I don't want this to read like an obit, I just thought it was interesting the character was based off a real person. Apparently, Mundus caught Benchley's eye after hooking a 4,500 pound Great White with a spear and a fishing real (it's sounds a bit like a fish story to me, but whatever). He took Peter Benchley out to sea several times on his boat to catch shark, with a few well over 3,500 pounds! Benchley's story would later be made into the movie we all know and love by Stephen Spielberg and the character would be played by the late, great Robert Shaw. Mundus is survived by a loving family.....sorry, it's habit! :)
