In a recent interview with J.J. Abrams, of whom I'm a huge fan, Abrams was talking about having a small cameo in his new rehash of Star Trek for William Shatner's famous Captain James T. Kirk. However, according to Abrams, William Shatner would settle for nothing less than a major roll. Abrams also said that writing him in would be too tricky and would mess up the continuity of the story, after all, Kirk did eventually die on screen, and even though it's a new crew, in sort of a prequel movie, the movie is rumored to be sometime after the original series and it's movies (so Kaaahhhnnnn still dies) with an interesting way to go back and revisit how the original Enterprise crew got together.
See, Shatner can turn this down, because there will be plenty of additional opportunities for him to sit back in his old captains chair again, right? Besides, it's not like death has ever stopped any character from returning *caugh caugh Spok caugh caugh*.
Do you think a Star Trek movie will really be a Star Trek movie without Jean Luc Picard or James T. Kirk? What about Sam Beckett...uhh Johnathon Archer?
