Obama is Luke Skywalker? Jon Stewart says it's so

I love the Daily Show. I'm a huge fan of the brilliance that is Jon Stewart and his writing team. There, I said it. I'm not ashamed either. Apparently, more people look to him for the news than anywhere else, and why not? He's the only one that comes out and says exactly what he's doing; being funny. So, when he said Obama was like Luke Skywalker, he really had my attention. He makes a good point, too, don't ya think?

A new trilogy in the works for Star Wars?

Star Wars fans are a die hard bunch. Ever since Return of the Jedi was released, and the fans were, uhh, graced with the presence of Ewoks, they have longed for a proper sequel to their beloved franchise. Sadly, they got Jar-Jar Binks and the prequels, but even that train wreck wasn't enough to dissuade them from their dreams of sequel heaven. There's been talk of the infamous episodes seven through nine for years, and now the rumors resurface, as the Star Wars geeks freak out.

/Film is reporting a rumor that has been denied by Lucasfilm that a planned trilogy is in the works and will be released after the six movies are released in theaters in 3-D. The rumored story will be quite some time in the future and have nothing to do with the Skywalker family, at least no one we know.

The good part about a storyline having nothing to do with the familiar characters is that Lucas doesn't have to play puzzle master, leaving some fans yelling "convenient," like they did with the prequels. This would give Lucas a fresh start in a very large universe. I don't know, however, how the Jedi would fit into a world so much farther in the future. It would seem to me the logical progression would be that the Jedi council and any remaining Jedi would just get pushed aside, similar to Paganism. I mean, they were responsible for the years of the dark times in the universe.

What do you think, does this sound like a good idea to you? What kind of stories would you like to see?

Star Wars: The Solo Adventures

I'm not sure if it's good or bad, but one of the greatest things to come out of Star Wars in a long time is actually a fan-film. In the film, we learn why Jabba the Hutt puts a price on Han Solo's head in this prequel to the original trilogy that puts the animation and voice acting of The Clone Wars on notice. Check it out, and join me in hoping the people over at Skywalker Ranch take notes.

Legos and Star Wars...in 2 minutes

Legos and Star Wars, two of my favorite things, and when they combine, it's always magical. This summary of the original Star Wars trilogy is no exception. Check out the video and admire the the Legos in all their Lego-ness, along with some a great summary of Star Wars. Is it a problem it only takes two minutes to summarize seven hours of film?

Lego Star Wars stop action film is the greatest thing ever

That's right, I said it; "the greatest thing ever." This video is a short using lego characters, and is just plain awesome. I love Star Wars, and I love some Legos. I'm pretty sure Legos are the greatest toy in the world, and when they are combined like this, the result is pure awesome! Check it out!

Star Wars Dead?

Well, as many of you know, I'm a huge Sci-Fi geek. In fact, I just recently counted down the top 15 of the genre, and loved every second of it. When you look at my list, you will see every Star Wars movie from the original trilogy, so you might say I am a huge Star Wars fan.

So, that being said, I read some great news on /Film's website today, saying that Lucas is continuing to move forward on a live action television series that he describes a cross between the Sopranos and Deadwood, and plans to shoot 100 episodes, back to back and then shop for a network to air it. Now, I was trying to hold in that little girl squeal, but as I read the comments section, it seemed I was the only one. There wasn't a single little girl peep from anyone, even after it was announced they had hired some great writers, and were even to look at casting very shortly, which means things are moving along.

This lack of enthusiasm for anything Star Wars got me wondering if the franchise had become too jaded by the Jar Jar Binks's, the crappy animated movie (despite the show being all kinds of awesome), bad script writing, and seventy-two versions of the original trilogy. How can the greatest Sci-Fi trilogy of all time not muster any sort of excitement for a continuation of a story?

My first inclination was to find someone to blame, and order a hit on their life. I realized that wasn't the best course of action, so, I started wondering if it was because of the lack of quality, the fact there is Star Wars stuff everywhere, leaving the market over saturated, or if the Sci-Fi loving generation simply died out.

So, since I can't understand the lack of enthusiasm over a new story, set a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, maybe you guys can. What do you think the problem is, and is there a solution, or has Star Wars gone the way of Star Trek, needing a rebirth? Call J.J. right now!
