Psych Season 5.5 Trailer
USA Networks has a direct line to my heart. It seems everything they do, from Burn Notice, to Monk, to White Collar, to Covert Affairs, Royal Pains, and especially Psych are some of my favorite shows on TV. My favorite of all of them, Psych involves an observant slacker who has convinced the police department he's psychic, and solves cases for them. There is tons of witty lines, and some genuinely smart writing. This season has been the strongest by far, and this trailer for the remainder of the season looks amazing.

Psych Season 4 DVD Review

Fake Psychic Shawn Spencer, and sidekick Burton Guster are back for season 5 of the USA Networks hit series, Psych. Beforehand, you need to catch up with season 4, and ask yourself one question, "are you a fan of delicious flavor?" As a huge fan of Psych, I loved season 4, but lets see if it's worth a Ulysses S Grant ($50).
The episode has some great hits, and revolves around Juliet and Shawn working out their awkwardness, and Shawns feeling for Juliet, while Shawn is dating Abigail (guest star Rachael Leigh Cook). The season had several guest stars, like Carey Elwes, Heroes star Sendhill Ramamurthy, James Brolin, Ally Sheedy, Jaleel White and the infamous Judd Nelson, among others. Lets look at some of my favorite episodes.
The first episode that got my funny bone is "The Devil's in the details...and in the upstairs bedroom." It guest stars Ray Wise, and is a take on the movie The Exorcist, with Shawn being skeptical, and Gus believing a girl is truly possessed. The episode is known for Shawn's commercial theme "bum bum bum, muffins!"
Another great episode is "You can't handle this episode," with guest stars Robert Patrick, and John Cena, as Juliet's brother, Ewan. Shawn is investigating a murder, and starts to suspect Ewan being linked to some shady military dealings. Cena and Shawn played so well off each other, but it also had a bit of a wall between Shawn and Juliet.
The last episode I had to talk about was the season finale. As was last season, the episode forgoes some of the comedy for the more seriousness. The episode is called "Mr. Yin Presents..." and has guest stars Ally Sheedy and Cook as Shawn is hunting the famous Mr. Yin, the opposite of Sheedy's Yang serial killer. The episode was Psych's take on Alfred Hitchcock, and fans will see plenty to love about this episode. Besides the great mystery, and a conclusion to Abigail's storyline, it leaves the killer completely mysterious, and Juliet nearly killed. This was one of the best episodes in Psych history.
While the season was great, the special features were only alright. I admit, I was bummed there weren't any of the famous Psychouts you see at the end of some of the episodes. There was a gag reel, which is really funny, along with some deleted scenes on several episodes, along with four episodes having audio commentary. The commentary was very good, and as entertaining as the episodes.
I loved this season of Psych, and as such recommend this to any Psych fan, or any fan of delicious flavor, or good television. USA has hit gold with this show, and I can't wait for more Psych.

Psych review - Bollywood Homicide
EDITORS NOTE: This may appear on Creative Loafings site, but, I have no clue; and yes, I am now referring to myself as "Editor," get over it.

After a week off, Psych is back, and in Bollywood Homicide, better than ever! This weeks episode has dramatic tension, a return of Rachel Leigh Cook’s character, Abigail, along with some great interaction with detective’s Lassiter and O’Hara. So, come, partake in the festivities with me, and don’t forget to look for the pineapple.
This week, we have Sendhil Ramamurthy guest starring as Raj, a man who loves women, only to have them nearly killed by random accidents. After Raj’s girlfriend is nearly killed, he decides to get help from Shawn and Gus and stop a curse that Shawn believes is something else. Along the ride, we have Abigail being an adorable girlfriend who observes her boyfriend get schooled by Detective Lassiter. Juliet meets Abigail, in what is one of the best moments of tension and akwardness in the season, and with Shawn still trying to put it all together, Juliet decides to put herself up against the curse to solve the crime.
This episode also had a great guest cameo in Broken Lizard’s own Jay Chandrasekhar. Besides the great character development was a very ordinary mystery that finally brings the show back to its roots, and shows Shawn conflicted between Abigail and Juliette. The whole time, Lassiter is loving showing up our favorite psychic, and making Shawn look bad. The scene where Lassiter is on the other side of the interrogation room and screams in joy is priceless, along with Shawn and Gus nearly dyeing due to the hot Indian food made me laugh to end, something that had been missing in previous episodes.
Overall, this episode had everything Psych fans were looking for, along with some great character development, and some wonderful guest stars. I loved this episode, and can’t wait for the next one.
So, until next week, Psych fans, it’ll be the same Psych time, same Psych channel.
